earthworshiper greetings my little chicklets! i've just spent 3 days in an environmental camp for school purposes and i had the time of my life. for 3 days (ONLY!), we lowered our carbon footprint, discussed eco-friendly ways, and had the best time doing it! NO electricity. NO cars (except for transportation to the camp). nothing but friends, easy schoolwork (yahoot!), the chesapeake bay, and a whole lotta trees! now, here i am, back on my computer and i think "how boring life is this way. i just had the time of my life and now im cooped up in a stuffy room? did i just lessen my rush?" there's nothing like having a rush. and now mine is almost completely diminished. problem? cha, i think so. so, this weekend, im gonna try to get back my rush. im gonna go all out, no cars this weekend and no electricity. im camping outside in the backyard! truly, it is absolutely POOP compared to real camping, but hey: its better than nothing. right? see ya on monday folks! -k- p.s. what environmental things give you guys a rush?

eco-capacitated.

greetings folks!

sorry, i havent been on in awhile! relocating truly makes your life busier than you'd expect. Trust me, I've relocated 5 times in my short span of life on this ball of dirt. I heard one of my friends call the earth that and I found it quite comical ;)

In the months that have past i have attempted at veganism, brainstormed for an environmental club for my middle school, and have taken up walking to and from school! to make up for my absence on my Greenpeace blog (once again, i apologize IMMENSELY!!), these activities seemed to have occured.

in the news today, i discovered that in dewey beach, delaware there is currently a beached whale; its body laying on the rocky sand (truly, it is rocky. i have been there once or twice and my feet sore just from the sight of the landscape!) therefore, i took up an interest with beached whales.

if anyone has any interesting tidbits or personal factuals of information they have discovered in their own daily life (or simply research) PLEASE PLEASE comment and tell me! i am quite intrigued by this subject and if it is preventable.

-k-

p.s. my cousin was sooo cute. when i brought up beached whales, he said "awesome!" we all looked at him with puzzled faces. he then said, "now when i go to the beach, i can look beside me and see a whale! we could go tubing together!" he's only seven and is the funniest boy i've ever met :)

Holy Mackrel! 2009 already?

earthworshiper Wow. 2009 is here. I didn't expect that we would be thrusted into a new year so quickly, but here we are: 2008 has been shoved out the window and 2009 is the new page in our book. When a new year comes and an old one goes, I always love to focus and remember what positive things 2008 brought us. 2008 brought... -more hybrid automobiles on the market -more awareness of global warming -a lot more organic clothing+food But, 2008 did not have many vegetarians or people protesting against animals cruelty. I only hope that 2009 brings more of these things. I'd like to know, what do fellow Greenpeace bloggers wish that the new year brings that 2008 did not? Thanks for listening :]

Election '08 - Obama? McCain?

earthworshiper I know that today was the 2008 presidential election and such was a GINORMOUS deal. Everyone was bustling around town, eager to vote for the cantidate of their choice. I know who I favor: Barrack Obama. Not because of his ethnicity or his parents; but because he wants change. He wants to make America a better, safer, healthier, more eco-friendly place! Now, don't get me wrong: I APPRECIATE JOHN MCCAIN. However, I just differ with some of his opinions. Such is why I believe that Barrack Obama may be able to steer our country in the right direction. Now, i truly want to know: what's your opinion? You know mine, and why. But WHO DO YOU WANT AS PRESIDENT FOR THE NEXT FOUR YEARS??? Please, TELL ME. I'd love to be educated and learn what other greenpeace bloggers believe!!

Toto, I don't think We're In Kansas Anymore!

earthworshiper My family and I recently relocated to a new city and a new state. Due to my family's notorious past of constantly moving from place to place, I obviously wasn't disturbed by the news! So, we packed our bags and headed to a new city: Hershey, PA! When I came here last Saturday, I was ASTOUNDED at the advancement in modern "green" society! Recycling bins are everywhere and people are being much more concious about their choices regarding the environment. At all of the schools, recycling bins are in every room! And despite my constant lookout for trash, there has practically been no litter in sight! Also, students here walk to school. In my old city, no one i knew walked to school. It's an incredible surprise to myself that a city could have such advancement. Now, I'm sure Hershey, PA may have flaws, but I'm content with the fact that I won't have to put in as much effort to make this city greener. Also, after looking at this advanced "green-ness", I've learned to appreciate other cities. I know that now, in 2008, people are making an effort. They at least TRY and even if they're effort makes the slightest bit of change, it's still change and change is worht it! I hope that all of you not only appreciate the green-ness of where you come from but appreciate it enough to want to make your community BETTER. I hope this provokes some thought and gets all of you Greenpeace Bloggers a-thinkin'!
