My name is Shubhangi Srivastava. I have been involved with Greenpeace for the past 1.5 yrs.
I grew up in a small town in India. All my childhood I had seen people around me trying to save and conserve electricity, water and other natural resources as much as possible. My father always used to tell me "Power saved is power produced". That line has always stuck with me.
"An inconvenient truth" was one movie that really got me thinking. I was pregnant by the time I saw the movie and was really concerned about the future of our children. I began noticing facts and figures about forest fires, droughts, temperatures and sea levels. Joining Greenpeace gave me the opportunity to do something about these concerns.
I am also volunteering at a couple of non profits that strive towards planting more healthy trees in my neighborhood.
The biggest step that all of us can take towards fighting global warming is raising awareness. It is the biggest challenge we have to face as a generation. we wouldnt want our kids to look back at us and say "why didnt you do something about this even when you knew all along?"
