Rotten to the Core

Some of the best-known laptops are contaminated with some of the worst known toxic chemicals, and we’ve got the test results to prove it. Some of your favorite tech gadgets are made with toxic chemicals like polyvinyl chloride (PVC) plastic, brominated flame retardants(BFRs) and even lead. Brands like Hewlett-Packard (HP) and Apple contained the highest levels of contamination, despite claims to the contrary. And when last year’s coolest trend isn’t so cool anymore, tons of tossed out electronics make their way to the developing world, where children dismantle them for scraps, and are exposed to the toxics they contain. It’s time for these companies to cut the chemicals from their products, and create a strong recycling program.

Step 2: Read the letter we've provided. Feel free to edit it.
