Save the Whales � No More Harpoons!

Japanese whalers are in the midst of a killing spree. They are in the Southern Ocean with their sights set on killing up to 1,000 whales! Let�s put an end to this nonsense.

Japan�s so-called research whaling is nothing but a commercial enterprise by another name and the scientific value of their whaling has been dismissed by the International Whaling Commission. Modern scientific research on whales does not involve killing them.

Take Action >> Urge President Bush to tell Japanese Prime Minister Fukuda to put away Japan�s harpoons. We need the White House to step up diplomatic efforts to get Japan to recall their whaling fleet and end their illegal and unnecessary whaling operations once and for all.

For more than three decades, the United States led international efforts to save whales by adopting a moratorium on commercial whaling. The moratorium�s implementation in 1986 was both a victory for whale conservation and a milestone for U.S. environmental diplomacy. But the U.S. government seems to have forgotten about the whales and the huge amount of support that there is for whale conservation among the American public. As a citizen and voter, I ask that your Administration use all the diplomatic means at its disposal to defend and secure the international moratorium on commercial whaling and immediately stop all whaling in the Southern Ocean Whale Sanctuary.
