About me

My name is Bilel and I'm 19 years old. I live in Tunisia. I've joined Greenpeace for the last three years. When I was too young, I watched some volunteering groups from Greenpeace on TV. I appreciated so much what they are doing and how they were sacrificing their lives to protect a planet which is in reality a wealth for all humanity, not only for them. At that time, I thought that such groups and organizations are just places for brave people but now I have a totally different idea. When I started learning how to surf on the net, I looked for Greenpeace website and I found it. I was very enthusiastic to do everything: I read articles in Cyberactivist community, I signed up to receive GP newsletter which was my gate to environmental care… As there is no Greenpeace office in my country, neither a local group near me, I have to put all my efforts in cyberactivism. I believe that I really can afford some help behind my keyboard as the current task is how to increase people awareness of environment’s problems and how to convince them to move in a positive way. Being a cyberactivist is not less exciting than working in the real world. It allow you to stay in touch and work in partnership with people whose you share principles. I cannot express my pride of being a cyberactivist but the day when I will get the occasion to join voluntary work, I will not miss this chance. As I'm also an a member of the International Fund for Animal Welfare and Rainforest Action Network, I try to do my best to protect the environment as well as to respect human rights. I really look for partners to work with because being alone can not change the situation but together we can make a difference. Since it was created, Greenpeace realized a big progress in the nature preservation and succeeded in most of its projects. But we still dream of a green, clean and peaceful world and we still have other projects to work on like Climat change, Nuclear weapons elimination, Whaling protection,... Actually, I do care especially about protecting Rainforests from illegal logging. That's why I appreciate so much the project of 'Forests Guardians' as it gives me the opportunity of taking a valuable role. The earth is the only place on which we can live, so I think that is the responsabilitiy of everyone to save it.

Peace for you all!

Treeslicer, what are you talking about? I find it hard to believe that you are on Greenpeace, with comments (and a username) like that. What you're doing is cool, Bilel. Peace on Earth!

F***K OFF TREESLICER!! Im jacquie, im 13yrs old & i live in Australia. i think ur blog is absolutely awesome & i will definately look at that site after i get off GP. im also especially concerned about the rainforests. their the worlds carbon dioxide filters & as we chop them down, we're harming the animals, wildlife & ourselves. i dont particularly care about us humans though, especiallly treeslicer. only the ones with greenpeace & who r trying to stop the rest of the corrupt world. we do hav potential 2 b a great species, but we're taking advantage of our smarts. im with Mohamed, your my hero too.

Bilel, your words are truly inspiring.
I admire your concern both for the environment and for human rights. While many people separate the two, humans are part of nature.
    Shukran for your insight!

Please forgive treeslicer. They like many others are pepole who are judgemental and stereyotypical. Those kinds of people need to be reached the most. They are the ones who hunt the whales and "slices trees" (as their names suggests)and abuse animals. All we can really do is try to show them how great the natural earth is and hope that they will have a change of heart.
Peace and Hugs to all (especially treeslicer, they need it the most),

I am all for the saving of our planet, but everyone must do some research about the environment. Trees do filter much carbon dioxide and replace it with clean oxygen for us to breathe. But, rainforests only produce around 30 percent of our oxygen, it is moss and other small photosynthesis plnats that produce the majority. Rainforests though usually house those small plants...But anyhoo treeslicer is probably one of those people who decided to sign up to harass people anyways, so just ignore him. Kudos to you belil

I have a comment about your blog. You say that you looked up to these people from greenpeace you saw on television who sacrafice thier lives for the earth. It's not a sacrafice if it's what you love to do.I would happily take on such a task as some of these wonderful people at greenpeace do, but I'm still to young. Keep up all your love for the natural world. We need more people like you. Keep up the great work.

Welcome Bibel, and I wish you the best in whatever you do. Maybe someday more people from Tunisia will join hands and along with you open a part of the Greenpeace Foundation. I myself, started young and have been actively participating in a lot of organizations from all over... and every time I see another person who believes, cares and most importantly, takes action... I know we're not just a handful anymore. And it's motivational to continue doing what you do.

    Peace.
