JUST DISCOVERED GREENPEACE! Very excited to be joining this community of green activists. I was reading The Story of Stuff by Anne Leonard (former Greenpeace employee), which lead me here! The book is inspiring, pushing the reader to look beyond society's conventional (NOT GREEN!) methods and making the reader AWARE! We are all so blinded by our materialistic lifestyle to realize our planet is in danger! HHS has an environmental group (Goin' Green) and I hope to share this website (and this organization) with them in the near future. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) will finalize the first ever national standards for mercury, arsenic and other toxic air pollution from power plants in November. In March this year the EPA announced for the first time that it will limit some of the most dire air pollutants, most notably mercury. Currently, there are no national limits on the amount of mercury and other toxic air pollution released from power plant smokestacks. They warned that BP's money cannot be expected to fix decades of environmental damage.
