Every Little Bit Counts- Right?

| More

My name is Daniel McCoy. For as long as I could remember I’ve had an extreme passion for the natural world. As a young boy I remember rescuing lady bugs that had been unlucky enough to swim in my pool. Even today I find myself saving any other insect that dives in for a swim. Some may find this some what strange. But what else am I to do? Even bugs have a desire to survive, so that’s what I do. Sometimes I feel it’s the only thing I can do. Living in a big city, I feel I can do nothing bigger then saving a few insects from my pool. People seem to make fun of me for these hobbies, and actually caring for the world, but that’s okay. These are the people I try and knock some sense into. In fact, today in the news it appears that some horrible man swept overboard about 400 nestling turns off of a barge. These events make me sick, and it makes me embarrassed to be human. I find such wasted potential in people. And I’m quite sad there aren’t others like us that care about the world. In a couple months time though, I hope to find myself at Humboldt State University studying ecology or something related and live by the greatest forest on Earth, the California Redwoods. So basically that’s my life. I enjoy hikes, enjoy volunteering, and enjoy nature to the fullest. I just hope we as the human race can get our act together before it’s too late to turn back.
