Election '08 - Obama? McCain?

| More
earthworshiper I know that today was the 2008 presidential election and such was a GINORMOUS deal. Everyone was bustling around town, eager to vote for the cantidate of their choice. I know who I favor: Barrack Obama. Not because of his ethnicity or his parents; but because he wants change. He wants to make America a better, safer, healthier, more eco-friendly place! Now, don't get me wrong: I APPRECIATE JOHN MCCAIN. However, I just differ with some of his opinions. Such is why I believe that Barrack Obama may be able to steer our country in the right direction. Now, i truly want to know: what's your opinion? You know mine, and why. But WHO DO YOU WANT AS PRESIDENT FOR THE NEXT FOUR YEARS??? Please, TELL ME. I'd love to be educated and learn what other greenpeace bloggers believe!!

Toto, I don't think We're In Kansas Anymore!

earthworshiper My family and I recently relocated to a new city and a new state. Due to my family's notorious past of constantly moving from place to place, I obviously wasn't disturbed by the news! So, we packed our bags and headed to a new city: Hershey, PA! When I came here last Saturday, I was ASTOUNDED at the advancement in modern "green" society! Recycling bins are everywhere and people are being much more concious about their choices regarding the environment. At all of the schools, recycling bins are in every room! And despite my constant lookout for trash, there has practically been no litter in sight! Also, students here walk to school. In my old city, no one i knew walked to school. It's an incredible surprise to myself that a city could have such advancement. Now, I'm sure Hershey, PA may have flaws, but I'm content with the fact that I won't have to put in as much effort to make this city greener. Also, after looking at this advanced "green-ness", I've learned to appreciate other cities. I know that now, in 2008, people are making an effort. They at least TRY and even if they're effort makes the slightest bit of change, it's still change and change is worht it! I hope that all of you not only appreciate the green-ness of where you come from but appreciate it enough to want to make your community BETTER. I hope this provokes some thought and gets all of you Greenpeace Bloggers a-thinkin'!

Zoo craZyness

| More
earthworshiper today, while vacationing with my aunts and uncles, i went to the Indianapolis Zoo. now, im usually not very welcoming to things like that, involving captive animals, but i decided to go!! I mean, why not? It was just a way to spend the day! ...or so i thought!!! for 5 hours, I saw animal after animal after animal captive. They were behind bars, thick plexi-glass walls, fake rocky fences: all lined up in rows. it almost made me burst into tears like the teeny toddler next to me who was tantruming about not getting a lemonade! i mean, all of these helpless animals who were BORN into this "show biz" life: having rowdy kids pet them and scream at them, like the animals' lives were valueless. and others are STUCK their entire lives behind bars like fugitives! people are put behind bars because they completed something wrong and are being punished. THESE animals are put behind bars because human beings take p.l.e.a.s.u.r.e. in seeing the real animal in a faux habitat, rather than seeing it in the animal's natural home!! are we really willing to make other lives suffer because we are lazy? now, you've heard my opinion on zoos and their qualities, but I want to learn more from you. what do YOU bloggers think of animal captivities like zoos?

A lil Thanks to the World!

earthworshiper Instead of my usual conversation about environment topics, today, I am just going to thank everyone. Thank you greenpeace, greenpeace followers, and bloggers! Thank you Walmart, for your environmentally-friendly products! Thank you Chevy for going from "gas friendly to gas free". Thank you everybody who's ever made the slightest environment help!!!!! Do you know how much we've changed? Sure, we may not be as green as we wish for. And yes, we probably haven't prevented global warming enough! But, think about it: 40 years ago, nobody would've been making the improvements and precautions that we are doing now. I just wanted to give a positive entry today, thanking the people who have even made the teeniest help to Mother Nature. I hope that you bloggers agree with me in saying that today, we should just celebrate how much we have accomplished in saving our Earth. Because it IS an accomplishment we should be proud of. We are taking care of our planet! And now, like we all did in elementary school...... GIVE YOURSELF A PAT ON THE BACK! :-)

Earth Hour

Tonight, from 8:00 to 9:00, parts of the world are participating in Earth Hour: where for one hour, we turn off ALLLLL of our lights and we practically are supposed to not use energy! I for one, think this is a nice idea to contribute to energy conserving. I mean, if the whole wide w.o.r.l.d. does this for just something as simple as one hour, that could be a lottt of energy saved! It may seem a little silly but its a way to contribute to energy conserving. And if its a way to conserve energy for the world, count me in! I hope many people participate in this world-wide event, But I'd like to know the opinions of other fellow Greenpeace bloggers. What do YOU (yes, you!) think of Earth Hour???

P.S. If you want to know MORE about Earth Hour, go to www.google.com! They have a bunch of good 411!

2008 Presidential Election!

earthworshiper

Tomorrow, the people in my state are going to vote for who they'd like to have in the primary elections! Although I am not at the voting age (darn it!) I love to listen in on cantidate's platforms and campaigns. Most importantly, I pay CLOSE attention to their environment changes and beliefs that the cantidates might bring to to America! So far, I seem to favor Barack Obama, but I'm still pondering, SOOOOO I haven't decided yet. :) Anyways, I love understanding the other people's opinions, therefore, I'd like for you fellow Greenpeace Bloggers to AGAIN, write your opinions! I'll add more onto this subject later, for then I can tell all of you what my final decision is, on which cantidates (both democrat and republican) should go to the primary elections! Please write your opinions. Thanks!

SO- I'm asking all of you Greenpeace bloggers to add a comment and tell me what YOUR resolutions are to make 2008 a better place! That way, we'll all get ideas and opinions on resolutions. Thank you everybody!
