Losing natural settings in your home town.
Recently my home lost a vote concerning perserving an area of about 50 acres of natural landscape, to frisbee golfers....I am very disappointed by this. The area was purchased by the city in the 70's and since an unauthorized frisbee golf couse has been implemented. Now after 30+ years of being used as a course, the soil has eroaded and the blue oaks that live there are in danger along with the birds who live in them. All this right after thousands of acres were burned this summer close to this park in Northern California.
The frisbee golfers are complaining that the friends of the park want t take away the park and the fun and don't want anyone to use it. We just want to give the area time to repair itself while it still can according to the EIR issued. Why are people unwilling to see the long term effects of their choices? I am so frustrated and feel there is nothing I can do to make people understand that they can play anywhere else and that the trees that are living there right now aren't going to make it for very much longer, and that we may forever lose that natural lanscape that people here love so much. Any comments or suggestions is greatly appreciated and if you would like to know more about this current issue you can find it here: www.friendsofbidwellpark.org. Thanks for reading.
