Canadian scientists have found that waters off British Columbia at their historical warmest.

"Oceanic plankton have largely disappeared from the waters off Northern California, Oregon and Washington, mystifying scientists, stressing fisheries and causing widespread seabird mortality."
Plankton form the basis for the entire oceanic food chain. A collapse of plankton populations will have devastating effects throughout the ecosystem.
"Something big is going on out there," said Julia Parrish, an associate professor in the School of Aquatic Fisheries and Sciences at the University of Washington in an AP story on Wired.com

The Associated Press is reporting that Greenpeace will help shift sales to Canada through its web campaign.
