Alaska
Alaska is so beautiful and this has to due to all the beauty that it naturally possesses. Beauty that is being threatened. This last summer I was given the opportunity along with my youth group to be apart of a two-member race crew for hand cyclers and wheel chair athletes. The race which they were competing in was called The Sadler's Ultra Challenge which was a 260 mile race from fairbanks to anchorage. The race crew basically was in the car the whole time unless the athlete needed water or something. But the race crew had to actally camp outside which was awsome! But was a little hard for some people since I am from the lone star state and all. But we did it all..saw glaciers and hiked it was amazing I will never experience soething as awesome as my summer in Alaska...Sorry for writing so much but when I saw Alaska I just felt liked telling of this amazing experience!!

Student at Brookhaven College

Hi...My name is Heather and I have just graduated from high school! I start school on Aug. 27 so I psyched about that. But anywhos...I along with my friends started an environmental club at my high school which included getting teachers and students to recycle. It was an awesome experience that I am glad to have been apart of. It was really tough getting it started which included proposal after proposal being rejected by the princpal. I had always dreamed of having an environmental club since sophmore year and finally at the end of my junior year it was done. People were at first generally opened about making a difference on campus so we were excited. It was tough..no lie..It made me try to become a better leader for The Project Green. The numbers of realiable members dwindled which at times was very very hard to keep going. But, I am so glad that I did in fact tried and when I look back I glad to be able to say I was apart of such an amazing group of students who cared about really making a difference. As for the future....I' m going to Brookhaven college for a year..and Hopefully transfer to a college in BOSTON! Tufts, Boston College, Emmanuel College, Northeastern, and Boston University are all on my list. So I'm keeping my fingers cross....I want to major an either environmental science or geology...and I would LOVE to be a part of Greenpeace in the near future!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!That is it for now...Peace!
