Okay. Here's how I see it.
We're all here for the same reason. We all want to change the world. We all want to make the world a better place. Whether it's stopping Japanese whaling missions, putting an end to world hunger, ending deforestation, or providing support for the victims in Darfur; we all have one set back. Where to start? Where is the transition from talking about how much you want to change the world to actually changing it?
I wish that millions of children in the world weren't sewing Nike Soccer Balls together in a small, dirty, over crowded room right now. I wish I knew that my great great grandchildren would live to experience the never ending beauties of nature. I wish there was no such thing as genocide, and that those in Darfur didn't have to experience the suffering in one day that most of us will never experience in our entire lives.
It's 10:21PM, and as I sit here wishing that I could solve all of these problems, reality sets into place. It would take more than a lifetime to solve just one. How could one person alone make a difference? My only reassurance that perhaps just maybe, just one of my wishes could come true is in knowing that there are thousands of people out there wishing the same thing.
It's time to stop wishing. Let's make it come true.
