Rolling Sunlight Tour

Yesterday was my first day on the Rolling Sunlight Tour.  I am currently traveling with Jon and Kyle and I would just like to start by saying they are great!  We are currently in Southern California. Yesterday the event we went to was in Huntington Beach.  The organizers were great and the event was successful. Jon was commenting on the fact that unlike some previous events, the majority of people who stopped were youth.  This is a movement that is really going to affect the younger (my) generation more so than anyone else, so it was good to see that they care and are interested!  We were set up in a really good location at a place called The Electric Chair.  The US Open for surfing was taking place so there was even more foot traffic than would have been normal.  There was such a positive response. I cannot wait for our next event!

Huntington was my first time seeing the Pacific.  As we got closer to being in-sight of the Ocean I grew increasingly more excited.  When we finally reached a place where I could clearly see the Pacific, Oil rigs were obstructing my view!  How have we let ourselves get to a place where we will allow our beautiful scenery to be tarnished by these monstrosities?  There are other ways to get the energy/electricity we need without the risk of pollution and degradation that comes with mining oil and the eye sore it creates!  Wind turbines for instance, and while they may obstruct a view at least in looking at them I know that I am not taking anything from the global environment.  Not to mention, I would much rather look at wind turbines than an oil rig, which are pin-sized in comparison to the giant platforms spread across the ocean.  On a more positive note, at least we are rallying people to get legislation passed for clean energy!
