Jane Goodall, and why she perpetuates my days.

| More
mmmurphy We have the choice to use the git of our lives to make this world a better place. Jane Goodall. All my life, I have wanted to be her. To this day, there is no turn my life could take that I would appreciate more then having the opportunity to impact this world as she has. There is no person I would rather have the opportunity to be then one such as she that cares so much for our world, and the betterment of this planet we are lucky enough to inhabit. Jane Goodall understands the true inner-workings of every creature in this world, and as a human who has such a life-long investment in a topic such as apes, that isn't even necessarily something tied to her, is the reason that apes are understood and revered as they are today. The struggling people of India wouldn't know what quality of life there could be without the aid of Mother Theresa, and she wasn't even Indian. What I wish each of us could do, is take in interest in our world. Our home. We benefit and suffer from every last instance that effects Earth, and yet there are others in this world that are doing more for people they had never been connected to, then WE will do for the land we are so fortunate to live in. Do something. There is at least one thing, one action, one moment that you can choose everyday to make a difference, no matter how small. It is important, to our future and our children and ourselves, to preserve this place and everything in it. DO SOMETHING.

Greener Apple

mmmurphy The grass is always greener on the other side, but finally, Mac enthusiasts can finally declare that the grass is greener on our side. I am an avid Mac fan, I love Steve Jobs, I love apple, I love it all. I was also an active participant in the push to get Steve Jobs to green-ify his products. The stats are out there, Apple at this point, is one of the lowest on the list of environmentally friendly emitters. I am so happy that that is about to change. Steve Jobs has heard the cries loud and clear and in the very near future, will be re-accessing the assembly of apple products to result in a lower-emitting final product. Thank god. It warms just the tiniest portion of my heart to actually see a result for the outcry of environmental awareness. One voice CAN make all the difference, and all of those voices acting together can change the world. Bring on anything you can hit us with, world. I think it is safe to say that the citizens of Mother Earth will fight the fight.

The final 18 months of ignorance

mmmurphy I want to start this blog out right, and I don't want to offend any person that may happen to stumble upon my ramblings... but I realize, it's just not my style to be agreeable. I have a problem with President Bush. There, I said it. It turns out, he hasn't done the best job in office. Who could have guessed that would happen? We all know the statistics of how poor of a job he has done, so I will spare the next ten minutes of my life and your time and just proceed to what is really on my mind. The election this next year is going to be very important. I know that I cannot be alone in saying that it has the potential of being a pivotal catalyst in the changing characteristic of our country. With the surprisingly extypical candidates, we have already made greate steps towards a new sort of United States. I would hope that this chance for change will not be lost on the public, nor left to waste on a culture who is too fearful of the unknown. Sadly, the one candidate I really feel could do the most good for our nation, is ironically, that same very typical demographic that we have seen in office since the country's founding. John Edwards has a dream to see our futures succeed. He is pro foreign aid, he is concerned with the ever-pressing issue of global warming, and is a humble, surprisingly down-to-earth man. I don't want to say that Edwards is the best, or even the right, choice... but for me, he is. My point is that I would like to urge everyone to get involved in what will be happening in our country over the next 18 months. I support a candidate that I truly believe can change the world, I hope that everyone can at least get behind something, or someone, that they believe will do good. Whether that be a polititian in the 2008 election, or even simply, yourself. There are some big things baring down on the citizens of the world, not only the United States, and in a year and a half... we will have the strongest opportunity yet to do something about securing our place in the future. Get informed, find your passion, and make the decision to make this world worth living in. Until next time.

About Me

mmmurphy
Ames, IA USA

Some things you ought to know to have a fair judgement of me: I love Jane Goodall. I listen to Miley Cyrus, Bob Marley, and everything in between. Well, not everything. I went to the first-ever Powershift. I'm fairly excited about the nudity laws in Eugene, OR. I am an Anthropology student at ISU. I am striving to obtain my Masters of Public Health. I believe dolphins are smarter than people. I am in love with a football-playing, hunting, lumberjack. I have a job where I get punched in the face by angry kids on a daily basis, but I love them all. I wrote a hate letter to my younger brother's hero, Pete Townshend, scolding him for not responding to my brother's fan-mail. I have a deep admiration for south-american history, circa AD 900. I have two dogs, Maya and Faye I believe we should have a designated forest exclusively for literary publications... bringing me to my last point... Life would not be worth living if not for good books and good people.
