The Christian Science Monitor sounds unsure of the "cap-and-trade" concept. In the April 12th issue, Mark Clayton writes, "At least half a dozen bills in Congress aim to solve the problem by letting the market decide through 'cap-and-trade' systems. But those systems...include widely varying details whose impact is largely unknown." Wonderful. Meanwhile, there is a goofy column in The Metro that advocates for climate change. I caught a glimpse of this column that said essentially, why not? Time for a change. A lot of people read The Metro.

Global warming has been part of my consciousness, for a long time--about 20 years. Recently, Al Gore presented us with the movie An Inconvenient Truth, but he didn't provide solutions to global warming until the closing credits. I read about global warming in The Christian Science Monitor. But I don't know how to help prevent it. I feel helpless, and feeling helpless does nothing any good. As I read this, I see the words Take Action to the left. I hope Take Action involves writing. As a poet and writer of articles, etc., writing (as opposed to money) is most likely what I can contribute. Above all, I do not want environmental disaster to happen, and I believe it could.
