initial thoughts

Global warming has been part of my consciousness, for a long time--about 20 years. Recently, Al Gore presented us with the movie An Inconvenient Truth, but he didn't provide solutions to global warming until the closing credits. I read about global warming in The Christian Science Monitor. But I don't know how to help prevent it. I feel helpless, and feeling helpless does nothing any good. As I read this, I see the words Take Action to the left. I hope Take Action involves writing. As a poet and writer of articles, etc., writing (as opposed to money) is most likely what I can contribute. Above all, I do not want environmental disaster to happen, and I believe it could.

That really grinds my gears. It seems to me that only rich people can make a BIG change. You know why? The government. My mom can't work full time because she is trying to finish college. And we aren't doing so hot. I can't work because going outside gets me sick. But honestly, there are some solutions for everyone to follow.

1.Don't Drive Recreational Vehicles. That is a really big thing for the US to work on.

    2.Try to recycle.

    3.Drive less

4.Unplug everything you can after you are done using it.

5.Raise money for charaties that help the poor purchase hybrids.

    don't buy any kimberley-clark products

    reuse everything

    buy local food

    turn off your lights

    lower your thermostat

    use your oven cautiously

    use recycled paper

    fly less

    use public transportation

    and write about your concerns!
