Stop Tsunamis!

| More
rational Since we're so intent on changing global warming, why don't we also include other catastrophes like Tsunamis? They cause tremendous death and destruction all over the world! And while we’re at it we should tackle earthquakes, volcanoes, and those pesky sun cycles! Scientists agree that these catastrophic phenomenons kill more flora and fauna than global warming ever will. They also agree that the solution to these nasty events is exactly as obtainable as stopping global warming… Let’s unite!

Global Warming is partly man made, earthquakes are NOT. Simple. Although tsunamis and other extreme weather conditions could be the effect of the cause, why not work to emiminate the root cause of some of this extreme weather pattern that we have witnessed more frequently in the last 20 years? That means curbing climate change. If we curb climate change, we will in effect lower the intensity of some of these storms, theoretically.
Now, will we be better off to say, " global warming is not real." and not act on it, and find out later that it was real. Or say, " it is real" and act on it, to find out it wasnt? Ponder this if you can.

    Excellent question!

You're right: global warming is PARTLY man made. So, if we eliminate 50% of that part (which is clearly not feasible), we still haven't put a dent in it. So why waste effort on prevention... doesn't it make more sense to PREPARE for the catastrophe rather that wring hands and waste time & money on fixes that don't fix?!

If we’re aware of all the nasty consequences of warming and do nothing to prepare, is that a responsible thing? Ponder that!

(PS: I wasn’t suggesting that tsunamis and earthquakes are man made, or that they contribute to global warming… I was trying to highlight the futility of trying to prevent them! Which is a logical parallel to the futility of stopping global warming.)

I believe there is some kind of crazy conspiracy therorist out there saying that the government caused Katrina. WOW. Maybe we can control storms and just dont know it yet. lol
P.S. I do understand your point about global warming. Although I disagree, you make a very good point. I like healthy and civil discussions on the subject, keep em coming.
