Amazing video

The only words that come close to describing this are amazing and stunning.

It brought tears to my eyes.  Why, would anyone want to put any of this in jeopordy for ANY sum of money, no matter how large or small?  I just don't understand it... I just don't...

Earth Hour 2009
I am starting the prep for this year frightfully early.  (I do this for almost every day of importance to me XD ex. Christmas, Halloween you name it...) writing down ideas, sending e-mails and all that.  Because in an increasingly polluted world like this, 'spreading the word' itself does not really work.  But when mixed with action, it can be the most effective thing on the planet.  That is why, this year, I am going to try and 'put my foot in the door' in our community so that I will have the power by 2009 to take some sort of action that can be noticed.  Yes, I am one person.  But one person is all it takes to start a movement (just look at sydney, and what they started in 2007!) My plan is to not only spread the word in my community, but through my online friends that live in different places throughout the world, have them start similar things where they live.  Who knows... it could become a serious project.  A lot can happen between now and 2009.  And I am going to try and push for it.  Because everyday, I wake up and look around, ALL around me are reasons to sit down and cry, reasons to jump off of a bridge, but none of those things will help in the end.  Now, neither does spreading the word... but if you are capable of flipping a switch in march 2009, you could help save the world.  For more info on earth hour go to www.earthhour.org and if you wish to contact me, on my artwork blog go to www.r-l-marstall.deviantart.com  If any of you could help or have any ideas, and would like to chat with me in real time, check my MSN instant message address rooktheshifter@aim.com I am almost always on.

Club
HEY GREENPEACE BLOGGERS!  Just decided to update... (since I seem to do that too little) If any of you out there are young artists, you may have heard of Deviantart.com right?  Yeh, I have a page there, and I spend overall WAY too much time on it... so, i figured, why not take my interest in the environment there?!  Me and a friend decided to throw together the worl-wisecompany club XD forgive the name... it wasn't thought out that well... but we can't change it now... THE POINT is, that it's supposed to be a new club for everything environmental!  So those of you here that are interested, and know how D.A. works, head on over why doncha! here's a link www.world-wisecompany.deviantart.com  Me or my friend should reply within 24 hours if you comment or note the club!  If you can't get a hold of us through the club, just check out the embers list, and the first two on it are our icons... visit our pages and leave us messages there!  We'll be sure to get to yo sooner or later.  Also, I have become WAY more active in the greenpeace community since the dreaded Mccain issues... They're reeeaally serious... and now it's to the point where 'spreading the word' doesn't work... it needs to be paired with ACTIONS.  So that's what I've been doing!  I should be updating this blog A LOT MORE OFTEN... I appreciate comments GREATLY... Take care everyone, and think green... no, ACT GREEN!!

Good deeds

I have been so depressed about the state of the environment lately, and just this week I thought, "being depressed about it isn't going to make it change"  So I did something that would.  I went out two days that week and cleaned up the beach at frontinac park.  I scored some beach glass to make stoof with, AND I got exercise, AND I helped out the environment.  The weird thing was, I didn't let it stop there... every good thing I thought to do that week, I did it right there and then... whether they be setting goals for myself, or picking up trash at the beach (which there was a crap-load of by the way). And I think it changed me for good.  See, I have always been kinda lazy SADLY, and I am not gonna let it keep up anymore... How can I say what I say about people who don't do good things, when I am too lazy to do them myself.

At school, we just got a recycling bin, which I was very happy to see btw, and I use it everyday.  Some of my friends don't, and I have no freeking idea why, so I just take their plastic stuff before they go to throw their trash out, and I do it for them.  Maybe they'll get the message eventually that they need to do it on their own.  But I think I am growing away from those friends anyway... and the thing that struc me is... are they going to do it on their own if I am not their friend anymore?  stupid yes, but I do think about it.  The only friend I can count on lately is Jen, she recycles, and thinks nothing of it, she doesn't make fun of me, and she listens.  I think it's time for me to stick with the friends that care about the planet, and don't just want to throw it away.

First Post
Well, just what the title says... and I'm happy to be here.  I am somewhat of an artist, and lately about 30% of my drawings have been about something relating to our dependancy on oil.  I even came up with my own version of what oil might look like if it were a living thing... and it's not pretty my friends, not at all. I have changed it a couple times, each time, it ends up looking scarier... and I can't help but think that it's a symbol of how our situation is getting worse.  I thought, instead of sit around thinking about how many seconds are in a minute, and how many trees are in the one football field of forest that's cut down in every second... I decided to do something... now is not the time for crying and arguing, now is the time for action, and greenpeace is just the place I could find out how to do it.

As you can see, by my profile photo, I love to draw.  And most of the things I draw are imaginary.  Dragons are my primary interest, but right after that, is my interest for the earth, and I'll not let the earth be destroyed, if not for the animals... for me.  But don't get me wrong.  I completely adore animals!  I only have one pet though, a cat, because I cannot bring myself to keep a bird in a cage, or a snake in a glass box.  But oh how I would love to have a bird, but I just cannot bring myself to take away the animal's freedom.  But little by little, they're loosing their homes out in the world as well.  Don't let that happen, my friends, don't let us reach that low. if any of you would like to contact me on my art blog, or check out my art, go to www.r-l-marstall.deviantart.com
