Events like Deepwater and Massey are examples of humanity's deplorable behavior towards the environment and each other. Between these two accidents, the death toll for fossil fuels has reached 40, and that is just this month!

Many of you have probably already read Melanie's moving blog about the damage caused by drilling for oil. Not only is Deepwater a deep-problem, it is the archetype for why offshore drilling should be banned. Do we want these accidents happening up and down the coasts? If anything is to be built off shore, it should be windfarms! Thankfully, Massachucians have got it right and the first offshore windfarm will be built!

Psst. Greenpeace inspires me. Pass it on.

The flurry of the end of the year is over. Looking back, 2009 was an incredible year for the environment. The Boreal Forest now has Kimberly-Clark on its side, the House has agreed to make our communities and earth a safer place, and Nike and Timberland said "No" to Amazon destruction. And that's just a handful.

So, thank you everyone, from the people on the streets to the folks in the board room and all of you in between that helped the earth in 2009. (Yours truly at 2:21.)

Here's looking forward to 2010!
