We are on the way to getting something together in my community. I asked a friend if she would help me and she said she would. This is a big step because she is much more organized and can really get this idea moving.
To start a school club we must first get the idea approved by the principal, but even before that we must have a teacher advisor. It basically means that we had to find a teacher that would supervise our meetings and keep us from doing anything illegal. Luckily, we found one.
We first looked at the different science teachers, but they were all mostly involved in other activities or had some previous matter to attend to. We had to think of one of the new teachers that would perhaps be willing to get involved. Luckily we had a brand new spanish teacher this semester and she was a sweetheart. We approached her after school and explained what we wanted to happen. She was more than willing to help.
Our next step is to meet with the school principal tomorrow morning. I can't think of any reason for him to be against this idea, but there are always reasons for our school to go against something. It doesn't matter though, if we can't get it together at school I'll start it outside of school with the same people.
This is moving quicker than I thought possible.
