Wind Turbine Revolution
I've finally done it, I've convinced my parents to purchase a small scale wind turbine to power our house. I believe I've convinced my older brother to put one up in his back yard too. AND I'm on my way to getting my neighbor to install one. To top it all off, I talked to my old Biology teacher from high school, and his class did a lot of research on wind power and went to the school board with their findings, and my old high school is going to have a wind turbine of their own in 2 to 3 years! It's been a good week, and it's time to get global warming some public attention in my area.
It's time for me to start organizing some kind of environment club, and to get some fundraisers going. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
quick update
This is just going to be a quick update. In my recent attempts to slow global warming I've taken responsibility and changed about 35 lightbulbs in my house to CFL bulbs, bought an insulation blanket for my parents water heater, have been making sure all power strips are off when their respective appliances are not in use, taught my father to pour the coffee he makes in the morning into a thermos instead of leaving the coffee pot running to keep it hot in the mornings, raised the temperature on our air conditioning unit to 75 degrees (fairenheit) instead of 72, and bought some solar lighting for outside of my house so that we don't need any outside lights on.
Next on my list is to caulk and weatherstrip around windows, door frames, plumbing, and cables that run through the exterior walls of my house. Then to install window shades on the remaining windows. After these simple things I believe my house should be up to par for energy effiency, then I take to the streets!
