Yay! I've made a revelation. I can still change the way people think (or at least attempt to) and be an activist despite the whole age issue and the fact that I have no one to protest or rallie with. Email! This baby works wonders. How could I not have discovered her true beauty earlier?! I've been writing letters to Senators like a storm. Anyway, I'm only on some guy named Craig, got a lot more to go. BYE!

Recyceling

I really love to watch this show, "Weird Wheels." It's Canadian-based and only on the DiscoveryHD Channel, so I doubt anyone else has heard of it. Anyway, it shows about three "vehicles" (for lack of better word) an episode. They are all custon art creations and just fun to look at. Sometimes, they simply profile the artists. One was a man from San Fransisco who went to a salvage yard and took bikes from it and turned them into fantastic creations. I think that is a great way to recycle, don't you? Not just handing it over to a machine which will make it into some product, but taking junk *yourself* and turning it into something you or a friend could use. Hey, this is giving me ideas... I now have the sudden urge to grab a blow-torch, head down to the town dump, and make myself one beast of a bike out of all the scrap bikes i find down there. Who needs cars? Recycle bikes! Brilliant! Besides the fact that I'm 13 and lack said blowtorch... I think I'm on to something good here.

The other day... I converted yet another. My younger brother Tyler recently decided to become a full on vegetarian, apparently in an effort to become as cool as his vegetarian (going on vegan) brother whom, might i add, is oh so amazing. aka... me. However, at McDonalds he bent the rules he had previously set for himself just a little when purchasing a *gasp* fish filet. That night, we watched a show on sharks. They showed a group of fishermen circle around some bouys previously placed by them, and roping the boats together, making a circle. They grabbed the bouys on to which was attatched a net. They all reached over and pulled up the circular net. When it reached surface level they chained the net to the boats and jumped onto the now taught thing, hooks in hand. They stabbed the fish which were splashing up quiet an inpressive display of water in a vain effort to flee. They then pulled the fish and lunged them onto the boats decks, repeating the hooking and throwing process until all the fish were aboard. However, there was still one left, a shark. This was what the show was pointing out, the fact that there are many times unnecesarry and unintentional s of sharks (along with other animals for the matter) when fishing, especially with nets. However, although obsessed with anything shark-related, my brother ignored that spectacle and was staring at the hooks. He was horrified, vowing to never eat another fish again. I previously mocked my brother becuase i had a feeling he was only doing this for attention, to be different, because he noticed i was always questioned and stood out at any large meal where people noticed i didnt eat meat. However, my brother might actually be serious about it. I dont know. But come to think of it... this is the second time this has happened. He was a "vegetarian" before for a record of... lemme see.... like two days before quitting. I'll keep you posted, mysterious stranger who actually reads my blog, to see if he really does stick with it this time.

Don't you guys wish we could get every single person who beleives in what we do here at GreenPeace, together, in one place, like the Lincoln Memorial march all over again, only this time, for animal rights? We could have readings, sing songs, maybe that infamous "Mikl" could read some of the inspiring words so beautifully written in his/her (sorry, but i honestly dont know) blog. I really think that would be great. Becuase sometimes, drastic measures like banner unfurling and brute force create such a controversy that the public chooses then and there to ignore the protestors' actuall point. I think (not that I am against said banners and the strategies used in many past events) a more civilized show would make a great, great impact on the way we think and live. But that's just me.

Ok I know it's only been about three seconds since I entered my last post but I just remembered something I simply MUST rant about. PETA!!!!! I was once hooked on those folks. Loved them with alll my heart. However, I kinda got the feeling that they are just mud-slinging liars when I read that article about them kiling dogs after not being able to find them a suitable home when many claimed that they never tried to FIND said "home" in the first place. What do you guys think of PETA?

Why hello and salutations!! New here, in case you couldn't tell... and despite the fact that this blog's theme is "Taking Direct Action" (or something like that...) I have yet to *take* said action. However, I'm a thirteen year old kid in a family of gas-guzzling, meat-eating "Average Americans" so i guess I shouldn't blame myself to much for the fact that my activism skills aren't exactly up to par. I am interested in at least *preparing* for the... um... activis-ness-stuff I will do later on in my life (hopefully) even though I'm doing nothing now. Although I honestly doubt there's anyone out there reading this... I'm curious to see where you all live and maybe what you've done in regards to being an activist (if anything). Any of you in Massachusetts?? Anyways, Peace! (and I mean that literally not just like "peace out man I'm cool" like a lot of hypocrites do nowadays for some reason right before firing up their deisel powered high-emmision Hummer to go snipe out some deer with a shotgun or to do some other un-peaceful thing like that) PS If for any reason you wanna contact me, my user name hear conveniently doubles as my SN for AIM.
