Week of Action: 100% Clean Energy at Michigan State

April 2th - April 13th, we need YOU to join hundreds of students across the country fighting in solidarity for 100% clean energy at Michigan State University.

Michigan State University has the largest on-campus coal plant in the United States, burning over 200,000 tons of dirty, dangerous coal every year. For over two years, the university has failed to prioritize students’ concerns about the health and environmental impacts of burning coal on campus - but these students aren’t giving up. In fact, they’re speaking truth to power and demanding MSU transition to 100% clean energy like wind, solar, and geothermal.

During this Week of Action, students nationwide will drive thousands of phone calls and emails into MSU’s Board of Trustees in support of clean energy. The following week, hundreds of students and community members from Michigan and beyond will come together at MSU to protest and demand clean energy solutions from the university.

On April 13th, MSU’s Board of Trustees will be voting on a proposed plan to transition their campus to clean energy. This is a huge opportunity to set the standard for schools across the country. It’s THE moment to draw a line in the sand, demand nothing less than 100% clean energy, and come together as a movement united for change.

Let's show the Board that the eyes of students and communities across the nation are on them.

Are you interested in hosting a 99% Spring event? (This is a separate commitment, in addition to organizing a solidarity action for MSU.) Greenpeace has partnered with The 99% Spring to help build community among activists and build a stronger movement to fight for the issues of the 99%. Inspired by Occupy Wall Street and the fight for workers in Madison, Wisconsin, it's an effort to train 100,000 people between April 9-15th to tell the story of the 99%, learn the history of non-violent direct action, and use that knowledge to take action on local campaigns to challenge corporate power. Find out more about the 99% Spring here: www.The99Spring.com
